McQuay International has been a subsidiary of Daikin Industries since 2006. Founded in 1872, the Minneapolis, MN-based company develops, designs and manufactures commercial, industrial, and institutional HVAC and refrigeration products. International Commitment to Sustainable Practices
McQuay International received the EPA's Stratospheric Ozone Protection Award in 1992 in recognition of being the first to design and manufacture chillers with no ozone depletion potential. The company's proactive stance has led the way to global use and U.S. environmental regulations that now require HVAC systems to use HFC-134a, an environmentally-friendly refrigerant. From 2007 to 2009, McQuay's parent company, Daikin, was named to the "Top 100 Most Sustainable Corporations" list by Corporate Knights, Inc. Last year, the Daikin/McQuay Applied Development Center was certified as LEED Gold for installing sustainable practices as part of the company's combined corporate culture.
