Decades after McQuay built the first hermetic compressor for air conditioning classrooms, the company remains committed to the development and manufacture of state-of-the-industry HVAC products. Today, McQuay compressors represent a new breed of chillers that operate cleaner, quieter and more efficiently. DWG is proud to offer a full line of air conditioning, heating, ventilation and refrigeration products with world-wide delivery of McQuay parts, equipment and components. And, we are faster and cheaper than our competitors. If you're replacing an old unit or installing a new one, make us your one-stop-shop for McQuay compressors, chillers and heat pumps.

Lubrication-Free Compressor Technology

Eight years ago, McQuay became an industry leader in compressor technology with the introduction of magnetic bearing technology. Conventional centrifugal compressors had always relied upon traditional roller bearings and hydrodynamic bearings. Both designs required an oil-based lubrication that would contaminate the chiller's refrigerant which resulted in higher maintenance costs and less energy efficiency. McQuay's magnetic bearing system is significantly different from its predecessors and utilizes a frictionless compressor shaft that rides on a digitally-controlled magnetic cushion. When the system is idle, the compressor shaft rests on backup bearings that also protect the compressor in the event of magnetic bearing failure.

Lubrication of compressor bearings have always been a critical issue for refrigeration systems design and represents a major costs for routine operations. By replacing the conventional oil-management system, McQuay compressors eliminate the capital cost of oil pumps, sumps, heaters, coolers and oil separators. In addition, magnetic bearing compressors significantly reduce the time required for routine maintenance and servicing of the chiller system. Plus, another environmental benefit is that McQuay compressors operate with considerably less noise and vibration. Tonal issues, such as those found with some screw compressors, occur at a higher octave, since there essentially is no structure-borne vibration, they are easier to attenuate.
